Situated on the south coast of Menorca only a few kilometers from Ferreries lies the picturesque resort of Cala Galdana. Although small in size, it is one of Menorca's most loved, most photographed and most visited resorts.

Known as ‘The Queen of the Calas’, Cala Galdana has lots to attract the visitor and keep them happy. Besides the obvious attraction of the horseshoe beach and towering cliffs, the holidaymaker has a wide choice of other activities including: boat trips, mini golf, water sport, scuba diving and cycling and makes a good base for the many scenic walks around the Menorcan countryside and along the coastal paths which lead to secluded natural beaches, untouched by the growth in tourism.

The Algendar Gorge, the most dramatic of all Menorca's limestone gorge. Starting life in the country side just outside Ferreries, it winds it's way down to the sea opening out in Cala Galdana where the small river, the Algendar, flows into the sea and enhances the natural beauty of the bay.

Cala Galdana, is constrained by the width of the Algendar Gorge, this can mean that some of the holiday accommodation can be situated high up, with some properties having many steps up to them. The three main hotels are thought, all situated on the valley floor within ease walking distance from the beach and resort attractions.

Cala Galdana beach has been awarded the coveted European Community ‘Blue Flag’ for its safe bathing and facilities including a good selection of water sports. Beach sun beds and parasols are all close at hand but the cost can soon mount up as the daily rental is rather high.

The resort also has a small water park and play area, ideal for young children. The selection of restaurants and bars in and around the centre will suit everyones' tastes and budget, ranging from pizza and pasta to authentic Menorcan cuisine. You will find children are very welcome in all the restaurants and don't be surprised if the waiters comes along with a few sweets or makes time to entertain them, in Menorca children are always welcome.

Cala Galdana has everything needed for all your holiday shopping, including chemist, hair dressers and doctors, but Ferreries is only a short bus ride away with Mahon, the capital and Ciutadella easily reached for a wider choice.
